As a small business owner, you’ve probably got a lot of systems quietly ticking along in the background - your website, your LinkedIn profile, your onboarding process, your go-to presentation. The problem? After a while, you stop really seeing them. Here are three simple ways to keep things from going stale:
✅ Revisit your older decisions The tool you chose three years ago might not be the best fit anymore. Maybe something simpler (or cheaper) exists now. Maybe your needs have shifted. It’s worth a look - if only to stop paying for something you no longer use. ✅ Scan what’s hiding in plain sight A friend recently found a typo in her email footer… that had been there for years. She’d seen it so often, she’d stopped noticing. If that sounds familiar, pick one part of your business each month - your About page, your calendar links, your FAQs - and give it a quick review. ✅ Understand what others have set up for you You don’t need to know how everything works under the hood. But if someone set it up for you, it’s helpful to know what should be happening - and when. Ask questions. Keep notes. Every so often, check that it’s still doing what it’s meant to. It’s easy to fall into a comfortable rhythm when you’re running your own show. Just don’t let that comfort turn into autopilot. A quick check here and there can save you from bigger headaches later - and help your business reflect where you are now, not where you used to be.
