HOW YOU CAN BE LESS WASTEFUL AT WORK

Here in New Zealand, we had our National Holiday on the 6th of February: Waitangi Day.
Holidays are usually a great excuse to get together and eat, but we must eat anyway, so we'll have a look at the workplace today and how you can be less wasteful at work.
 
BE MINDFUL OF WASTE IN YOUR OFFICE

• Set up a container “library” in the staff room/kitchen, that can be used to carry package-free food from home.
• Provide real kitchenware rather than disposable cups, plates, and cutlery.
• Do you love your coffee or tea as much as your staff? Buy eco-friendly and responsibly sourced coffee and tea. This can help reduce deforestation, water pollution, and erosion.
• Use coffee grounds in your garden! Collect it in a bin/container and if you don’t have a garden, maybe a staff member would love it for theirs.
• When you cater for staff or client meetings, buy local, if possible organic, and don’t use plastic cutlery, plates, and cups.
• Think about providing filtered water for your staff, so they can refill their bottles or glasses straight from the tap.

 
Being sustainable in your business is becoming the standard these days, and that is good! It is not something “nice to do”, but it is necessary; it can boost your brand, attract customers and staff, even investors, while at the same time reducing your overall costs and therefore increasing profitability.
 
It demonstrates leadership, ethical leadership, and that is what we need!
